Bring Canadian beef back to the table

Posted by Miriam Lamey on August 24, 2009 in Home & Garden

As kids prepare to go back to school, families are also getting ready for a return to a more hectic lifestyle. However, feel free to pick up some snazzy new cookware because the Beef Information Centre (BIC) of Canada wants families to cook at home more often and has provided easy-to-make recipes for them to use.

It can be pretty tempting to grab a pizza or other fast food after a busy evening of taking the kids places, dropping them off and generally making sure all the errands are completed. This often cuts into family time and a fast food meal can lack nutrients and the comfort factor of a home-cooked meal.

As a result, Home Economist Joyce Parslow has helped develop recipes with the BIC in order to remind busy parents that it is possible to make dinner from scratch in a stress-free manner.

"When developing these latest recipes," she explains, "I wanted to make my life, and the lives of other busy moms like me, easier."

In other words, that new cookware set should expect to get plenty of exercise throughout the year.
