Mario & Sonic get to the Winter Olympics early
Sega has announced that they will be releasing Mario & Sonic at the
Olympic Winter Games for the Nintendo
Wii and the
Nintendo DS on October 13, several months before the actual Olympic Winter Games start up in Vancouver in February 2010.
In addition, there will be some Canadian-only packaging in honor of the host country, according to Kombo.com. The Canadian packaging, which can be seen on Sega's Flickr page, will have a logo of a stylized Canadian maple leaf up in the top corner of the box.
The game will pit Mario, Sonic and their friends against each other in a series of winter sports, including alpine skiing, figure skating, bobsled and, of course, ice hockey.
Sadly, no one has said anything about curling being on the menu.
The Wii version will have the option to use the balance board for some of the sports, so getting a bit of a workout while playing isn't out of the question, and it will also have co-operative mode.
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, which came out last year, was a hit, selling 10 million copies worldwide.
